With the manuscript of memoir #1 in the evaluation stage, I started memoir #2 a few weeks ago. Each memoir follows a different layer of my life, potentially even relating to a different audience. I am blessed to have lived such rich, diverse life experiences and look forward to sharing my journeys with the public at large.
Today, weekday writing usually consists of emails, proposals, and talking points for presentations for my day job as a Health Education Program Coordinator. Then, Saturday morning comes and the excitement bubbling inside pops me out of bed early to make coffee and spend the first part of the day on personal writing projects. Each precious moment I do this fills me with the joy of indulgence; for it is indulgent as I rebel against the household and yard tasks looming loudly from every corner.
Yes, writing today is a rebellious act. But, as I enter the time zone to less than a year to retirement, it feels like I’m on the edge of a cliff, preparing for take-off, with permission to write for creative and deeper, more meaningful impact. This next act will be the performance I have waited a lifetime to fulfill. I only hope the rebel in me will find another venue of expression, or perhaps that expression will be in the writing itself.
I hope you will join me because it promises to be a wild and inspiring ride!
